By the way, the 'All hail the Virtual Boy' meme is actually based upon one of the dream sequences of the actual game, if one playthrough video of the Japanese version's of any indication.
In fact, the dream actually seems to be about Miis worshiping various items (in one gameplay video, they were worshiping a small slice of cake, for which which the chant would translate somewhat to 'All hail the small piece of cake!' in the final version.) You also get items for watching the dream (in the case of this type of dream, whatever they've worshiped, thus hinting that the Virtual Boy is an actual item in the game!)

Incidentally, some dreams are interactive in-game - the 'factory' one that was seen in the Nintendo Direct videos actually allows you to control the machines as they dunk the clones of the dreaming Mii into what is apparently some kind of souce before moving onto the next patch, and you can tell said machine to move on to the next patch even without dunking! Another one is when the Mii becomes some sort of stick figure puppet you can move around on the touch screen.
